Going Underground

Last Wednesday night the Edinburgh Cake Ladies took cake underground in aid of cake-eating, all things spooky and most importantly the great local charity Its Good to Give.

The Real Mary Kings Close kindly let us host the event in the close for this ghostly evening, and it was not an event to miss.  I think the cake ladies really excelled themselves this time not only in terms of venue, but the cakes and bakes where totally amazing (and some quite gory too!)

The lighting down there was a wee bit too dark to take many decent pictures, but here are few – so you get the idea!

My contribution to the evening was this set of spooky characters

After getting stuck into some cake, the lovely Mary Kings Close staff took us in groups on a tour of the close – going to Mr Chesney’s and Annie’s Houses, and giving us loads of information on ye olde Edinburgh! We were also entertained by the fantastic Magic Bibby who wowed us with pretty cool tricks!

We all went home, full of cake and new facts about Edinburgh from a fantastic evening, one in which we raised over £250 for Its Good to Give! And I wasn’t as scared down in the close as I thought I would be – not as wimpish after all so it would seem!
