I’ve lost track of how many times we have said ‘We must go to Jupiter Artland sometime’. I have read and heard so many good things about it, I had to find out for myself, so today was the day we finally made it!
It can be found just outside Edinburgh (embarrassingly close to home as well), on the Bonnington Estate. The large grounds contain many weird and wonderful works of art, with a trail leading you round them all and a great little cafe at the end to revive you after all the walking.
Here are some photos of my day there:
At the end we were starving, all that art builds up an appetite. So we visited the cafe which is run out of a fab airstream trailer! We had a wonderful Goats Cheese and Spinach Quiche with lovely crusty bread and healthy salad (I needed that after the cake I had yesterday!). I did however resist the tasty looking cakes they had on offer – I am not sure what happened there – choosing savoury over sweet? All that art and fresh air must have gone to my head!!
Jupiter Artland closes on the 16th September for winter, and it usually re-opens around May. If you can’t make it by next weekend, definitely put it in your diary for next year, its certainly worth a visit!
