The Classic Snowball

The Snowball is, I guess a classic cocktail, not one I had tried until recently mind you! I have frequently passed that retro looking bottle of Advocaat so many times, wondering what on earth does it taste like!

The Snowball was created in the 1940’s, but it wasn’t until the 1970’s it really took off, though it did take another blip in popularity before the domestic goddess herself, Nigella Lawson in 2006 brought it back to the nations attention and the classic drink was revived!

The recipe is simple, Advocaat and Lemonade. Advocaat is a traditional Dutch drink made from eggs, sugar and brandy, basically alcoholic custard, can that be a bad thing? In the UK, Warnicks Advocaat is the sickly yellow liquid found in with other random alcohol found in the supermarkets.
